Share the Gospel

We live in a tech-savvy world. Do you like electronics or are you confused by all the latest gadgets and gizmos that adorn the store shelves? Has anyone ever asked you if you would like a blackberry, when you weren’t in the produce section of the grocery store? Or did they inquire about your Bluetooth? Do you use a notebook or ever surf the Web? And now we are up to our eyeballs in APPS. These are just a few of the terms that we come across in the world today. Just what do we think of all this technology and what should we do with it? Throughout generations, means of communication have changed. When the world was first created, the only way to communicate with each other was verbally. In time, written communication developed. Centuries later, the printing press was invented; books were published; then typewriters appeared in homes. More progress occurred when computers and laptops were invented. Now we have advanced to cellphones, iPods, and other electronic devices that can send instant text messages to someone across the world or right next to you.

Technology can do almost anything. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? In many ways, it is a good thing. Technology can reach people in ways humans can’t. Electronic devices are found worldwide. Imagine the possibilities for spreading the Gospel and telling others about Jesus! People can access and listen to Bible studies, sermons, devotions, and broadcasts anytime, anywhere. Bibles are available to read, regardless of location, at any time of the day or night. It is convenient and easy to transport the Bible wherever you go. This age of technology brings new meaning to Jesus’ words in Mark 16:15, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (KJV).

We are faced with the following questions: How is the increased use of technology good for the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? How is it bad? Will technology ever replace humans as missionaries? Why or why not? What are some ways you can use technology to communicate God’s Word to others? For you tech-savvy people reading this, spread the Good News to others by sharing peace with them, sending your favorite Bible verse with them, or let them know you are praying for them both in joy and in hardship. If you are not tech-savvy, then use your phone or go visit them!
