We Are Church

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we would in all things grow up into Christ, who is the head. From him the whole body, being joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows in accordance with Christ’s activity when he measured out each individual part. He causes the growth of the body so that it builds itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:15-16 EHV).

We have just finished a successful outreach activity with Emanuel Ministries for the Fairborn community. Those who came to us had fun and those of us who worked to provide this activity had fun (and were pretty tired). I commend this verse in Ephesians to you this week. We ARE the body of Christ and we are still growing. What is also important is that we are joined together by our ligaments and other attachments so we can function as a body. When we are together in Christ and our goal is to show the love of God and the Good News to the community, we grow stronger together. Our backpack give away and free food was not the goal. The goal was to grow and strengthen the body of Christ. When we are selfish and self-centered, we pain Christ and weaken the body. When we tear down others or chronically complain, we pain Christ and weaken the body. By working together with community partners in Christ, or LSIM, or putting our all into a project, we grow in the depth and breadth of Christ. So I say to you, get up, get going, and join the fun in body building for Christ.

Blessings to you this week, Deacon Nancy Trimble
