Do Something

A very Happy New Year! Today we revisit devotions by Max Lucado. This devotion is entitled “Do Something” from the book, “He Still Moves Stones”.

Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. Faith is the belief that God will do what is right. God is always near and always available. Just waiting for your touch. So let Him know. Demonstrate your devotion:

Write a letter
Ask forgiveness
Be baptized
Feed a hungry person
Pray
Teach
Go

Doing something demonstrates faith, for faith with no effort is no faith at all. GOD WILL RESPOND. He has never rejected a genuine gesture of faith. Never. Perhaps you feel that God never does anything for you or even places stumbling blocks in your pathway in life. Perhaps you are angry that you always get the wrong end of the stick and God is at fault. Have you taken time to listen? Do you believe that God will do what is right? Consider quiet listening and you will hear the voice of God or as Lucado says, DO SOMETHING! It is in serving others and giving mercy that we receive the gift of faith in God. You are not earning God’s favor by doing something like in the list above. You are receiving the gifts of faith and unfathomable love from God.

Blessings this week! Deacon Nancy Trimble
