Abiding Christ Leadership

Pastor June Fryman

Pastor June Fryman joined the staff of Abiding Christ as a Co-Pastor on June 1, 2019.  Born and raised in Southeastern Indiana, she is a life-long Lutheran.  She earned her B.A. in Religion from Capital University (Columbus, OH) in 1988, and her M.Div. from Trinity Lutheran Seminary (Columbus, OH) in 1993.  While a seminary student, she completed a two year internship in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.  She has served as a pastor at First Lutheran Church in Shelby, Ohio (Dec. 1993-Feb. 2001) and Faith Lutheran Church in Wilmington, Ohio (March 2001-April 2019).

Pastor June and her husband Jeff were married on June 17, 1989, and Jeff is a Jr.-Sr. High School Life Science Teacher at Newton Local Schools in Pleasant Hill, Ohio.  They have two daughters, Pastor Sarah Fryman is married to Cedric Gegel, and Heather Fryman Maynard is married to Blake Maynard.

Over the course of almost 30 years of ordained ministry, Pastor June has led numerous youth groups to ELCA youth gatherings, youth mission trips, an adult mission trip to Belize, and an adult mission trip to Tanzania.

Pastor June enjoys playing golf, watching Netflix while working out on an elliptical machine, and attending wine-tasting events.  A day with all three of these activities is a bonus!

Associate Pastor Andrew Thompson

Pastor Andrew Thompson joined the Abiding Christ Lutheran Church community as Associate Pastor on July 17, 2023. Andrew grew up in Reynoldsburg, a suburb on the eastside of Columbus, Ohio. When Pastor Andrew was in the third grade, he began to discern a call to ministry, and has been deeply involved in various church communities ever since. Throughout his childhood and youth, he worshipped in several different Christian communities that were affiliated with the United Brethren Church or the United Methodist Church. Pastor Andrew’s experiences and friendships with Lutherans at Capital University led him to find that the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America would be his spiritual home.

He graduated from Capital University in 2019 with a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy and made the long trek across the street to Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University, where he received his Master of Divinity in May of 2023. As part of his seminary program, he completed a two-year internship in Round Rock, Texas, about thirty-five minutes north of Austin, Texas.

Pastor Andrew and his wife, Katherine Weiss, were married on June 3rd, 2023 (as you may have noticed, 2023 was a packed year for them with Pastor Andrew’s graduation, their wedding, and moving him back to Ohio all in one year!) Katherine is a PhD candidate at The Ohio State University, with her dissertation focusing on pregnant women’s and young mother’s experiences raising children during World War I in France and Australia. They have a beloved dog named Maggie who is always glad to play fetch with anyone she meets!

Pastor Andrew proudly refers to himself as a “nerd,” and lives out such a title through his diving into science-fiction books on the regular, playing video games with friends, and keeping up with comic book content (whether it be on the big screen or in comic panels). He and Katherine love to be outside in God’s creation and are always glad to explore new hiking trails. Pastor Andrew is especially passionate about learning people’s stories and discovering with others how we each get to be a part of God’s ever-unfolding story.
